In1962itwasseparatedfromtheTelegraph&TelephoneandwaslaunchedasanindependentattacheddepartmentoftheMinistryofCommunications.Beginningwith3036postofficesin1947,ithasexpandeditsnetworkto13419.
ItisoneofthelargestemployersinPakistanhavingmorethan49,502employees.Apartfromthetraditionalpostalservices,itboastsawiderangeofbanking,lifeinsuranceandanumberofotherpublicservices.
PakistanPostOfficeprovidesanextensiverangeofproductsandservicestocaterforboththepersonalandbusinessneedsofvarioussegmentsofSociety.ThesetraditionalservicesconstitutethecorebusinessofPakistanPost.
PakistanPostOfficeconsistsofanetworkof13,419postoffices,76GeneralPostOffices(GPOs),48DistrictMailOffices(DMOs)and3OfficesofExchange,alongwithcentralmanagementfacilitiesinIslamabadandLahore.OurpurposeistoprovideeveryhouseholdandbusinessacrossPakistanwiththeabilitytocommunicateandconductbusinesswitheachotherandtheworldefficientlyandeconomically.
